A really simple and I think effective garland.
The basic pattern consists of a 3 round heart. This can be finished at any stage to make small, medium or large hearts.
All you need then is to arrange them into a pattern and join with chain.
Requires
- 4 mm hook
- Red DK yarn
Round 1: ch 4, then into 1st chain work:
- 3tc
- 3htc
- ch
- tc
- ch
- 3htc
- 3 tc
- 3 ch, join into centre
- 17 working stitches (3 ch count as 1 treble)
Round 2
- 3 ch
- dc into 3rd chain from previous row,
- 2 htc
- htc
- htc, dc
- dc into next 4 stitches
- into point (tc) – dc, 2 ch, dc
- dc into next 4 stitches
- dc, htc
- htc
- 2htc
- dc
- 3 ch, sl st into centre
- 26 working stitches (3 ch count as 1 treble)
Round 3
- 3 ch
- dc into 3rd chain from previous round
- 2dc
- dc into next 10 st
- then into 2 ch point: dc, 3 ch, dc –
- dc into next 10 st
- 2dc
- dc
- ch 3
- join with sl st into centre
To join as a garland simply crochet a chain, joining twice to the top of each heart.
I tend to do 8 chains between each heart, with a 3, 4 or 5 chain between the joins on each heart depending whether they are small medium or large.
