It was the 25th anniversary of the start of the Srebrenica Massacre last weekend and a friend wanted to know how to make a Srebrenica Rose.
We couldn’t find a pattern, so this is my attempt:
- Requires:
- 4mm hook
- oddments DK dark green
- 10 gms DK white yarn.
- Abbreviations
- ch – chain
- ch-sp – chain space
- dc – double crochet
- tr – treble crochet
- slst – slip stitch
Each round is joined with a slip stitch
- Starting with green yarn,
- work 22 tr into a magic circle, join and finish.
- Change to white yarn,
- Tr, 2 ch into alternate stitches (11x 2 chain loops)
- 5 tr into each 2 ch-sp, repeat to end (11 petals)
- back post dc into tr of round 2, then 3 ch to next, repeat to end (11 loops behind petals)
- dc into dc of previous round, then 6 tr into 3 ch-sp (11 petals)
- back post dc into dc of round 5, then 4 ch to next, repeat to end (11 loops behind petals)
- dc into dc of previous round, then 7 tr into 4 ch-sp (11 petals)
- back post dc into dc of round 7, then 5 ch to next, repeat to end (11 loops behind petals)
- dc into dc of previous round, then 8 tr into 5 ch-sp (11 petals), finish and weave in ends
