I actually made a pile of these a few years ago to use up some 4ply to make bunting but no matter how I strung them I wasn’t happy. So this year I plan to use them to decorate my Christmas Cards.
The larger of the two in the image was worked in DK and measures 13 cm (5 inches) in diameter, the smaller is in 4 ply and is 8 cm (3 inches) across.
Requires
- White yarn or cotton
- Suitable sized hook
Abbreviations
- slst= slip stitch
- ch = chain
- ch-3 sp = chain-3 space
- dc = double crochet
- tr = treble crochet
Pattern
Complete each row by joining with a slst.
- Ch 5. Join with slst to form a ring.
- Work 12 dc in ring. (12 sts)
- Work 2 dc into each st. (24 sts)
- *Sl st in next dc,
- 1 dc in next 2 dc,
- sl st in next dc*
- repeat * * 5 times. (12 dc)
- *slst in next sl,
- slst in next dc,
- ch 3,
- 2 tr in next dc,
- ch 3,
- slst in next sl*
- repeat * * 5 times
- Skip all slst.
- *Work 3 dc in the ch-3 space,
- ch 3,
- tr in next tr,
- ch 3,
- slst in 3rd chain from hook,
- tr in next tr,
- ch 3,
- 3 dc in next ch-3 sp*
- repeat * * 5 times. FInish.
To complete, weave in ends, and block if required.
