    Basic Crochet Wristwarmer Pattern

Two versions of a really simple pattern that can be adapted to fit any hand size. Once you have this under your belt you can adapt it to incorporate different stitches, for example swapping the main part to double crochet or incorporating popcorns or fans.

    #MittenMission

Last year I contributed to Masato Beanies #Scarfathon. The appeal collected 500 hand-made scarfs for the homeless. The project continues this year and has a new addition #MittenMission.

    Twiddle muff

Twiddle muffs are some times used to help people with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism or learning difficulties. The textures & embellishments give them something to do with their hands, distracting from picking at their skin or pulling at medical equipment and bandages. They are constructed as a muff rather than a blanket as they can be slipped onto an arm with less chance of being dropped.

    Air drying clay

Some of my classes at the residential homes take a bit more preparation than others, especially if I am trying out a new material. One of the residents had said in a previous class that she had always wanted to work with clay. Now I’ve done some things with the standard air drying clay but it can be quite messy and I only have an hour session for each class.

    Simple Crochet Christmas Bauble

This bauble pattern can be adapted in a number of ways, plain, sparkly, striped and with a variety of adornments. I’ve worked this in a DK acrylic (as that’s what I had to hand) but it could be made with most yarns, each giving a different effect.

    Christmas Stocking

I’ve done these in three sizes; standard, mini & large. And they all work on the same principle. They re good for bunting as well as for putting gifts in

    Crocheted Snowflake 1

I actually made a pile of these a few years ago to use up some 4ply to make bunting but no matter how I strung them I wasn’t happy. So this year I plan to use them to decorate my Christmas Cards. The larger of the two in the image was worked in DK and measures 13 cm (5 inches) in diameter, the smaller is in 4 ply and is 8 cm (3 inches) across.

    Amigurumi Elephant 2

One of the ladies who comes to the Wool Haven crochet classes is interested in amigurumi and brought a pattern she purchased from Etsy to show me. Of course I wanted a shot at it.
