    June 2020

It’s almost half way through July and we’re still living in Groundhog Day. I’ve still been keeping myself busy in the garden and kitchen which has lead to this post being delayed. I find it’s the best way for me to cope, I don’t think about the “old normal” and I certainly don’t plan for the new, I’m just grateful that I have space to lose myself in, whether it is knocking back a batch of bread or weeding a border.

This month seems to have gone faster, although I’m still finding it difficult to differentiate between individual days. The good weather makes lockdown easier, you’re never bored with a garden and I am immensely grateful for that

This recipe ended up a lot more long-winded than I expected (mainly because you have to refer back to another recipe) so I’ve written it up to make sense of it. I’ll admit I didn’t realise it was so drawn out when I started making it. The pizza is cooked in a pan and finished under the grill rather than on a baking tray in the oven.

    Sourdough Bread Starter

There is a lot out there on sourdough and it’s worth reading about. I used to make it a few years back but am totally out of practice so I’m doing a couple of posts so I can access my favourite recipes without having to scroll through the science every time.

These were requested by my daughter, and a little bit more faff than standard bread ,so you can image my delight when she walked into the kitchen and said “These look good”

This is the first recipe I’m putting on here. It’s an attempt to stop my phone being full of recipe bookmarks. Not quite sure how this is going to work, some will show how I got on step by step following other’s recipes, others will include my tweaks/variations

    February/March 2020

I did start my February post at the normal time but then March got complicated and I lost the will to blog. I don’t want to get out of the habit so I am fighting the procrastination and getting something down February was wet and windy and I was champing at the bit to get into the garden (which has it’s own post). March was, well, we all know how March was. I’m at home most of the time anyway and but being told not to go out makes something I’m normally happy with an uncomfortable fit. On the plus side being stuck at home has meant I’ve been able…
